Lies
— Common Questions
"A distant kin had gathered a fortune, and upon passing I was the only one left to claim it. So I've done what any good man would do with it—dedicate it to the arts."
"I am of humble birth, and a mere 40 years of age. No different than anyone else here, really."
— Prying Questions
"Some of my collection is stolen? Well, I confess in my youth I wasn't as keen as I am now. Let us take comfort in that those pieces now lie safely in my hands, I have every interest to protect them."
"No, I've never been to the Skatay Range. If I was, then I wouldn't be here now, would I? I bear a forest name for the same reason you bear your name; it was given to me."
— Tricky Questions
"If your lead is a 'male Viera with black hair' I'm afraid you won't get very far. There's more than one, I'd imagine. Terribly sorry about your paintings."
"What an imagination! "

Companions
— High Society
Arseni has been at the fringes of high society for the past 80 odd years. He lives the part of a noble and has the manners to match, but where he once found intrigue he now finds tedium. He isn't keen on leaving though—instead he gets his kicks through messing with the imposed structures of conduct. Any nobleman willing to entertain him is bound to be taken along for a ride.
— Criminal Underground
While his contact list is short and his heists few nowadays, it doesn't mean he's unknown. He keeps contacts, and due to his lifespan, often needs to find new ones. Due to his past and current exploits being so daring, his name and face are well known in the criminal world, even if the information is scarce outside of it.
— Viera
Despite never intending to, Arseni always finds himself opening up to other Viera quicker than anyone else. His feelings about his heritage are multifaceted, often leaving him scatterbrained when faced with kin. For Viera he deems young (usually under 50), he's quick to assume a mentor role with little thought to if it's warranted. He is uneasy around most older Veena, but finds quick companionship in those who are similarly exiled. Viera who have lived in a city their entire life are the easiest for him to deal with. Regardless, other Viera will find his composure easy to crack, and gain much more insight on him.
— Romance
h
Note: I'd love to do a romance plot!! Two quick notes: 1. I consider different RPs their own story threads and thus am not seeking one ship to consider 'canon', 2. I'd like any partners to be comparatively middle-aged

— The Law

Themes
— Forest vs City
Arseni draws a hard line between life in the Skatay Range, and life in the bustling cities of Eorza. He considers himself an outsider to both, having always lacked the vigor needed to survive the wild. He resents the circumstances of his birth, envisioning a life for himself where he was born into the city, free from the obligations he's bound to by blood. To him, a city is comfort incarnate, an amalgamation of meaningless things borne from the minds of men with nothing better to do. The hierarchies, laws, debauchery and strife all a byproduct of freedom from the cruel whims of the wilderness. It's a place with fantastical ideas about how the world ought to function, blissfully unaware of the truth.
On the other hand, the forest is merciless, not out of malice but by nature. The city man kills for a trifling idea in his mind, but the forest man kills to feed himself. Where cities overflow with excess the forest finds none, every scrap useful if not necessary. Arseni fears that ruthlessness and shames himself for escaping to the city, to a comfort that cannot last.
— "Gentleman" Thief
A deeply enigmatic kind of thief, who pleases himself with only the finest things and paints himself the perfect picture of genteel. Arseni's modus operandi is to perform heists as cleanly as possible, leaving seemingly impossible thefts in his wake. While he has a flair for the dramatic and loves to have the papers write about him, not all of his thefts are so grand. No one would bat an eye at a servant coming and going from a manor, much less shake him down to see if he's grabbed any of his lady's jewels. He often relies on this subtle deception, a trick that scarcely fails him.
As of the past 50 odd years his exploits have grown considerably fewer, content with his wealth and collection. However, this doesn't stop him from the occasional heist, when he finds something he cannot resist. He near exclusively steals art,
